NASCAR Legend, Darrell Waltrip

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) is one of the biggest racing sports in the world, with its headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida, USA. It has been a platform for many drivers to step up their game and be one of the best stock car racers in the world. It is a family-owned company that governs and sanctions over 1,500 races at over 100 race tracks in 39 out of the 50 states in the US and Canada. One of the legends of NASCAR is Darrell Waltrip.


He ties with Bobby Allison as the fourth all-time all-star with impressive 84 career wins in the NASCAR premier series. Waltrip completed his career as a driver in 2000 after an impressive 29 seasons. He is a three-time champion having crossed the line first in 1981, 1982, and 1985, and on two occasions, he scooped the award for the Most Popular Driver in 1989 and 1990. After his retirement, he was the recipient of the Bill France Award of Excellence for his lifetime achievements on and off the track.

He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in January 2012, and before that, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2005.

Accomplishments off the Track

Darrell Waltrip currently serves as an analyst for FOX NASCAR, a position he has held for the past 17 seasons. He has continued to wow fans on and off the track, and he is a three-time winner of Fan Voice Awards by, with 38% of votes for Best On-Air Analyst and in 2006, he received his first Sports Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Sports Person – Event Analyst.

In February, 2015, Waltrip delivered a keynote speech in which he spoke to as many as 4000 attendees among them 170 dignitaries including the Dalai Lama at the National Prayer Breakfast held at the White House during Barrack Obama’s tenure as President of the US.
