Brittany Force returns to NHRA Racing

Twelve days after suffering a huge crash in the opening round of the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals, the NHRA Mello Yellow Series Top Fuel champion Brittany Force was already back in action.

The scary 180 G-load crash where she recorded speeds of nearly 150 mph gave a scare to onlookers from outside the arena and all over the world. Fortunately, she suffered no major internal injuries. Doctors cleared her after spending just one night in the hospital for a concussion, bruised lungs and back, as well as upper-body soreness.

Coincidentally, the accident came just days after her father, John Force, also encountered a bit of a mishap. While traveling at 265 miles per hour in the new NHRA Mello Yellow Drag Racing Series season, the Funny Car great saw his Peak Chevy Camaro blown to pieces. However, unlike his equally horrific crash in 2007, one where he had to go through hours of reconstructive surgery and months of rehab to return to competition, Force would walk away unscathed this time around.

Following her release, Force said that she doesn't remember anything about the crash that sent her to the hospital for a night. She was also raring to go back on the tracks, racing immediately at the NHRA Arizona Nationals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park outside of Phoenix.

Sitting behind the wheels of her Monster Energy dragster, Force has had quite a successful run. She has seen three runner-up finishes out of her five starts at the Wild Horse Pass. This includes appearing in two consecutive finals in both 2016 and 2017.

The 31-year-old NHRA drag racer is one of John Force's four daughters. She is the youngest of the four and all have followed in their father's footsteps. Her sister, Courtney currently holds the record for the most wins in NHRA history, a record previously held by their sister, Ashley.
