New Things in Store for the 2019 Land Rover Defender

The Land Rover Defender is one of the most iconic crossover SUVs on the road; there has been news of redesigning the car, and it is finally happening in the 2019 version.

The 2019 Land Rover Defender incorporates a similar platform as the Range Rover Sport but is enhanced to make it capable of driving over off-road terrain. The 2019 model will use an aluminum structure to achieve the uni-body design with an independent suspension system, which is a departure from the live axles used in the older models. This will make it safer and easier to drive, and it will offer a more comfortable ride on the road.

The front end of the car is bound to have round head-lights, and black impact-plastic inserts, but with muscular curves. The rear will have a spare wheel, off-road-inspired bumper, and twin taillights. The dashboard will have a modern LCD touch screen complete with GPS Navigation. The 110 version will also be equipped with leather seats, and the 2019 model will seat between 6 and 8 passengers, with a large trunk space in a long wheelbase. The highlight of the new model is the convertible option as seen in the DC 100.

The 2019 model will come with a 2.0-liter Ingenium turbocharged inline-four diesel engine capable of 200 horsepower and over 300 pounds of torque. However, unlike the older models, you, engines with more powerful engine variants in the 2019 model such as the 3.0 supercharged V6 from Jaguar are an option. This engine can give up to 380 horsepower and 332 pounds per feet of torque. There is also the possibility of a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with as much as 600 horsepower. It is all-wheel drive with an 8-speed automatic/manual transmission.

Car enthusiasts are predicting the new Rover Defender to rival the G-class Mercedes Benz, and with all the improvements, it might be the best selling crossover SUV on the market. The good news is that there will be a petrol-powered version for the first time in Defender’s history, and it is expected to be released in late 2018.
